Bubble hash has been around since the 1960s at the very least. To make bubble hash, you’ll need bubble bags, ice, and weed. The goal is to strain the cannabis through the bags in the same way that water would be filtered through a sieve. Each bag has progressively tighter weaves until just the trichomes remain (crystals aka the good stuff). The cannabis is chilled with ice, allowing for more efficient trichome removal.
The ultimate result is a very clean and aromatic product made without the use of any solvents. When you smoke this, it’s usually a full melt product, which means there’s no residue.
The only significant difference between live resin and shatter is that the flower utilised has not been cured or dried. The smell of a fresh flower before it has been dried is exquisite. This is due to the fact that there are more terpenes on the plant while it is young. Terpenes are removed during the drying/curing process. If you flash freeze fresh flower and then apply the same procedure for generating shatter with that flash-frozen fresh flower, you’ll obtain live resin, which is incredibly fragrant. This product will appeal to extract fans, but it is not for the faint of heart, since it is extremely potent.
What is the most effective cannabis extract? It is debatable. Do you like a more old school type of concentrate that can be pricy but is manufactured without the use of butane, or do you want a more potent, aromatic item and money is no object? If you fall into the first category, high-quality shatter or live resin is the way to go. Check out some bubble or finger rub hash if you’re in the latter camp. If you fall into the first category but don’t have a lot of money to spend, regular shatter should suffice.
Butane residue: anyone who has done extractions for as long as we have or has a chemistry background knows that in the first 24 hours, 90% of the Butane in the extracted oil vapes off to the atmosphere. Any leftover Butane is purged or cured from the Butane oil in vacuum ovens over the next several days if done by a professional extraction expert, resulting in a finished product 99.8% free of any solvent.
